Travel to Africa

The first order of business for our trip was to all arrive safely and that is just what happened. Since our team of nearly 50 climbers were coming from varied parts of the country our best meeting point was Amsterdam and wow what a long flight. As you will notice in the video many of us got sleep but not much. After about a 2 1/2 hour layover in Amsterdam we were off to Kilimanjaro Airport in Tanzania Africa.

One mistake we all may have made on this 9 hour flight was to watch a documentary about a team who climbed the mountain 1 year ago. It was a stark reality knowing that within days we would be faced with the same challenges and hardships. But it also reminded us of why we are doing this in the first place. If it were easy where is the sacrifice to help those who are with one of life’s most precious commodities, water.

Plane arrived safely at about 9pm, bags accounted for, visas purchased and a whole bunch of tired people. Even though we were ready for the hotel bed, our excitement level was off the charts. Our adventure has begun!
